Question

How to program Samsung IR Blaster (ES8000)

Dec 11, 2012 1:06AM PST

Hi,

I have a Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 System and would like to use the IR Blaster that comes with the Samsung ES8000 TV to turn the Cambridge Soundworks system on and off and control volume. This will eliminate a remote control.

How can I do this?

Thanks,
Alan

Not what I need

I need a solution that would allow me to alter the volume of the Cambridge Soundworks. I am hoping that I can control this from the Samsung's remote control.

I offered it because it's part of a solution.

It's rare to see the Samsung remote control non-Samsung gear. When folk want that I answer about things like I noted and the Logitech Harmony.

Good luck in finding out more about the IR Blaster.

Hi Alan,

Unfortunately, that's not possible The IR blaster only works with Blu-ray players and set top boxes. It doesn't work with home theater systems. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Suggestion: Extend the range

Thank you for the replies.

I would like to suggest that Samsung extend support to other devices. After all the IR Blaster is technically capable to handle such devices. These high end TVs are becoming integral parts of Home Theater systems and having one remote to rule them off would be a great feature.
