The XP Internet Security Virus has attacked my PC two times though I have free AVG Anti-virus and Anti-Malware intalled. Do you know how to effectively and easily prevent and remove the XP Internet Security Virus?

Prevention and Removal of XP Internet Security
by Carol~ Moderator / February 21, 2010 11:02 AM PST

cnetuser88..

Following ALL the steps in the below guide should help with its removal.

How to remove XP Internet Security 2010, Antivirus Vista 2010, and Win 7 Antispyware 2010

As far as preventing it. I noticed you started a thread a couple of days ago, asking about downloading videos and movies. I would use extreme caution, as to where you're downloading them from.

Additionally, at the bottom of the removal guide, you'll see where it's stated: 'If your current anti-virus solution let this infection through, you may want to consider purchasing the PRO version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to protect against these types of threats in the future.' It might be something worth considering.

Best of luck..

Great suggestion to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

please be aware that the scan itself might take very long, particularly in the "extra scan" section. After your hard drive(s) are scanned there is "extra" portion of it. My scan overall was 17 hours, so you might run in through the night. And don't get discouraged, eventually scan ends and the application does what it suppose to do. And yes, just follow the instrcutions on the http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-antivirus-vista-2010
Also once you open this link do not close it. Sometimes it will prompt you to register as a new user in order to re-open the link. In this case go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com and find the article manually.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
