Question

how to prep a laptop for return when it won't turn on

Sep 12, 2016 8:07PM PDT

I bought a dell inspiron 7000 a few days ago, installed outlook and synced my emails to it, installed steam and linked my account, and saved some passwords on my web browser. The laptop died and won't turn on, so I am returning it.

Is there anyway I can remove/reset the data on it before I return it without breaking open the laptop?

Sadly no.

I'm sure Dell should have answered this one too. Are they not answering basic questions like this anymore?

Answer
Basically they want you to send the machine back as you

bought it. This is typical of the big OEM's. I once had a Sager laptop that I needed to send back for repair and they recommended I remove the HD before sending back.
