How to post a pps slide show?

Dec 25, 2005 1:13AM PST

A friend emailed me a neat pps slide show concerning Christmas that I wanted to put in SE, but I can't figure out how to do it.

The email has an attachment labeled BlankBkgrd.zip 1.52MB.

When I unzip the folder, I get three items, a folder named Christmas which is blank, a file named BlankBkgrd.gif which doesn't have anything in it, and a file named ChristmasBlessing2005.pps. When I click on that, I get the slide show

But I don't know how to post that slide show. Can anyone suggest a way? Thank, grandpaw

I can send the email I received, with the slide show attachment, to myself by puttig the URL of the email in the letter to myself. When I open this email, and click on the URL which is in the body, I get my friends eamil and I can then open the attachment just as I could when I originally recieved the email from my friend.

Can I also do that by emailing the URL to others? Will they also be able to click on the URL and get the email from my friend? I'd like to find this out before I try it, if I can.

If the answer is "yes", I suppose I could also post the URL of that email in a post. But that would show the email address of my friend and I don't want to do that.

You can...

save the attachment in a folder, then when you send an -email, attach the saved attachment. The recepient will need MS Powerpoint or Power-point reader to see the ppt show. The free OpenOffice suite contains the "Impress" program which can also open ppt files.

Or you can just forward the e-mail to others, if the main contents do not contain personal matters you'd others not see.......

Why I emailed the URL of my friend's email to me, instead of just forwarding the email, is beyond me.

But I still wonder if there is any way to post something that would enable the reader of the post to get to a power point slide show?

Thanks yet once again, Papa Echo. grandpaw

P.S. I hope for you a warm and nurturing Christmas/holiday season, one that will last through the coming year.

Thanks, grandpaw,

May be joys of Christmas and the New Year be with you always.

But I still wonder if there is any way to post something that would enable the reader of the post to get to a power point slide show?

There indeed is a way. Basically, it is to upload the ppt file to a web hosting site. You then just have to provide the URL to the file. Some free web hosting services do not allow that (i.e. to use the web hosting service as a file storage service); in which case you can provide that URL within your ''home page'' as hosted, or even use that ppt slide show as the home page. You then provide the URL to your home page.
