how to play plasma tv sound through your bluray home theatre

by loctran72 / May 15, 2010 5:35 AM PDT

i have a samsung pn58b550t2f plasma tv. i bought the ht-bd1250 blu ray home theatre system for it. i can't for the life of me figure out how to route the sound from the tv through the system's speakers??? when i watch blurays or dvds, the audio comes through the 4 speakers + sub. when i watch tv though, it only comes through the tv's speakers. i found on the tv's menu where you can have the sound come through an external source, but the menu on the home theatre system isn't all that clear on how this setup is done? please help!

Are you watching Over The Air (terrestrial) programming, or do you use a cable or satellite box?

If you're using OTA, then an optical connected from the optical out on the TV to the optical IN on the HT system should get the results you want. (With choosing "external speakers" in the menu).

If you're using a cable/sat box, then I would recommend connecting directly from the optical out on the cable/sat box to the optical IN on the HT system.

You tagged only a post almost 2 years old. Try a NEW post with all the details.

Also, be aware that almost all output from the TV is STEREO with a fine exception for OTA. This can result in no sound on some systems.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
