Question

How to manage two accounts in Gmail?

Jul 27, 2011 6:11AM PDT

I currently manage my personal mail (RoadRunner) using Thunderbird and my business mail via Gmail using the standard Gmail web site interface. Since RoadRunner does not support IMAP, only my business mail is accessible on my smartphone.

I would like to have my personal mail forwarded to Gmail and manage it all there. The question that I have is when you have two accounts going to Gmail, does Gmail just lump it all into one inbox or is there a way to keep them separate? It would also be nice if I could keep the address books separate as well.

I would appreciate any guidance. Thanks.

Answer
The only way I can imagine

is this;

Set up a "Message Rule" in Thunderbird to Forward all your emails to your GMail account.

Then, in GMail, set up a Message Rule, (if it has that option), to send all your RoadRunner emails to some specified folder.

I am not even sure that is possible, and I can see problems. Do you send all emails to GMail, or just selected ones?

Looking through Google I see that you should be able to send all your RoadRunner emails directly to GMail as well as to Thunderbird. There's a link about that, (discussing problems I should add), here;

There may be other clues. I Googled Sync RoadRunner to GMail. See if that helps.
