How to located web design companies for websites

Oct 31, 2007 9:49AM PDT

I'm doing a project and need to figure out whether or not a website has been developed using a third party company or if it has been done by the site owner.

I wasn't sure what the easiest way is to go about this, are there any sites that list who built the site, or will I need to contact the websites I am interested to find out?

Thanks!

Where or how would I go about locating it? When I look at this it just looks like a bunch of jumble... do I need to read through the page?

Thanks!

Declare that HTML isn't "jumble." It's something they'll read. But even a beginner could start with just the first page and I bet you'll find many sites to have passages like "FrontPage", etc.

read it, it looks like jumble to me Wink

I will check out some of the sources and see what I can find... I may have to e-mail anyway just to be on the safe side.

Thanks so much!
