how to keep my roommate from using all my toner

Mar 25, 2007 4:14AM PDT

My roommate takes liberties with my printer all the frickin' frackin' time. Replacing toner is expensive for a poor student! Short of hiding the toner every time I go out, it seems to me there isn't much I can do... she simply plugs the USB cable into her laptop, and voila, free printing. BUT I am a technology ignoramus, so I am hoping one of you more tech-enlightened folks will have a brilliant idea for me.
Thanks for your help in advance!

A baseball bat comes to mind.......

However, you can simply remove the printer AC power cord and lock that up, not just hide it. If you find your printer continuously being used after that, then lodge a complaint to the authorities afterall, you "gave no permission" for use(right!). Let's be serious have the talk have teeth afterwards should the problem arise again and/or move yourself another room/residence. Of course, compromise and allow your roommate to buy a new toner cart for continued use, that should give an idea of the cost of it all. Last, just lock it up in some box, etc..
