How to install New fonts on Linux?

I have a Gateway MT3705 and running the latest version of Ubuntu 10.10 and wondering how i can install Times New Romans on this laptop. I have another laptop with windows and i already copied the files and wondering if possible where can i paste it?

I did this a few years ago, but basically...

sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts[\b]

If that doesn't work, type

apt-cache search font

The above will show you the packages with 'font' in the name in the supported pkg repositories your system has access to.
