How to install cell phone battery charger indicator light

On many cell phone battery chargers, an LED light shows red when the battery is being charged, then blue when it is charged. I want to install such a light on a DIY universal charger I have developed, so I took one of these indicator lights off the circuit board of an old charger I don't use any more. But it has three leads, one on either side and one in the middle. What do these three leads do?
