Re: install driver

The usual, if not only, thing to do with an .exe file is to run it. Doubleclick and see what happens.

- How exactly do you mean "the disc will not work"?
- Why did it work in the past?
- Where did you get the .exe from?
- Why do you expect it to work?

Double Click it, from where- where do I type it and click it

The disc that came with the printer, P6250. does not contain the Driver for the printer to work on W-7, I must download it. csj6200en.exe- and Yes the disc worked for my printer on older OS. The Exe is part of the name of the driver that I know will work, I downloaded it a few months ago, and it made my printer work, but I forgot how I did it.

Re: run an exe-file

In reply to: Install driver

Find it in Windows Explorer and doubleclick to run it. That's exactly the same as any other exe that you don't run via a shortcut.
Or make a shortcut to it on your desktop and click that like any other shortcut to an exe-file.

Lexmark probably no longer support this print.

In reply to: Install driver

You must be getting this driver from a third party, and that's why they want you to pay.

I found no charge or fee at Lexmark.

There are driver sites that prey on folk that don't know how to get free drivers from the makers.

If you had to install a driver, what would you do .

Re: install driver

I went to a site that said the drivers are from 2006. And that makes me think it's a very old printer. In such a case, if there's no working driver for my current OS, I'd buy a new printer that has such a driver.

(NT) You are correct

You are correct it is older

In reply to: Re: install driver

Yes the printer is older, but it has had very little use and it is Multi function and works very well with that driver I am trying load. And I don't want to fall for the bull **** of having to buy a new printer because the Printer makers want me to. I will find a solution sooner or later, I will make it work.

Running W -7 64 bit

I am running 64 bit -I am not sure if Lexmark has this driver, and it very well may have came from a 3rd party.

Folk have written the Vista driver of the right bits works.

I don't see enough detail about what happens when you run the .exe you have. For example there are antivirus suites that will block this so the fix for that is one thing. Another message might tell to me right click on it and run as admin.

But we have a dozen posts and not enough from you to give you suggestions.

Tell more.

I found the Download

In reply to: On the web

Ok, I found what I was looking for on a Lexmark site, the download is for Vista, but it works for Wind 7.

The Vista drivers available on the Lexmark website do not contain the All-In-One Center. They are minimum drivers. Although the scan drivers are shipped with the web package, they cannot be used by the All-In-One Center since it is not included. Please use Windows Scanners and Cameras or Photo Gallery for Scanning.

I forgot one thing. And it's a biggy.

In reply to: I found the Download

Many printer drivers have a step you must do before you begin. UNPLUG THE USB CABLE TO THE PRINTER.

This should be in the manual but most folk don't read those things.
