Clarification Request

What audio output does the TV have?
What do you mean with "quality"? Amplifiers in principle don't make it "better", only "louder".
What external speakers?

I find any externally powered speaker set to work satisfactory on the headphone output.

How to improve weak TV audio

Actually, I'm just looking for a way to increase the volume. I'm looking for a simple amplifier, or a combo DVD player that includes amplifying gear, not a full AV tuner. I doubt that there is such a product on the market, but thought I'd inquire anyway.
