How to go back to windows xp???

Mar 20, 2007 8:16AM PDT

Okay, here's the deal I have had windows vista premium for about a week now and it has slowed my computer down way to much compaired to XP. I thought I could get used to it but when it came time to try playing a game about 70% of what i have doesn't work right off or when you try joining a server they kick you for the wrong o/s (worked fine with XP). So I came to the point on I don't want it any more!

So my question is how do I go back to XP when my vista was a upgrade version only maybe saying its a OEM one helps. Because I am lost on that and dont know what to do to get back to windows xp and i already looked on the system restore and the farthest I can go back is right after I installed vista. Oh and my computer is a sutom built so I dont got any restore cds. Thanks.

Without those original XP CD's, you are going to struggle.

There is no way to uninstall Vista and roll back to a previous OS after an upgrade.

You need those XP CD's. Whoever installed XP onto your custom built system should be able to supply you with them.

At the number of people in similar circumstances- if you try with your original XP cd, you should let the install erase / delete the old partition and start fresh. If your XP cd can't get you where you want to be, buy a new, full XP and relax knowing you're still better off. Some that I've heard of have needed one of the 'Zappers' to completely obliterate the traces of Vista. That being said, the tech savvy daughter of a coworker got a huge deal on a high end Laptop, Vista ulti- etc, planning on never running it with Vista. replaced the original Hd with a 120bg sata, loaded xp fresh and he can hardly get her to stop talking about it.
