How to get unbanned from #CNETFans

Apr 5, 2011 3:59AM PDT

I'm what I though was a good fan, On Monday when the live stream wasn't working, I noticed a few people in the chat room sending a message to CHANBOT. I thought it was funny, so instead of just closing the browser I sent a simple message "CHANBOT SEND ME HOME" or something simple like that. Chanbot said do not use all uppercase and kicked me out of the room. Today I can't log in and it says I'm banned. My account name is AndyW I didn't think sending one message in all uppercase would ban you for good. I'm sorry.

Are you really really really...

...really really sorry? I think it helps if you're really(x6) sorry and not just sorry.

So the decision is yours is it?

For AndyWys, just in case the decision is not kwahhn's I have sent an alert to the Forum Admin to have a look at your post. I don't know #CNETFans at all and don't know who moderates it, but hopefully the Admin here will now.

It may take me awhile to track this down. as I don't personally use the chat app on CNET.

Thanks!

Here's the response I received...
Apr 5, 2011 6:25AM PDT
"This person committed "Bot Suicide" yesterday - deliberately typing in all caps so they are auto ejected from the chat room. It's a temporary ban, he can join again. Sometimes the ban lasts an hour sometimes longer."

I think you are good to go since the ban is only temporary.

Hope this helps.

Nice to know somebody is in the same boat
Apr 6, 2011 4:51AM PDT

Funnily the same fate befell me. 3 days later and I don't when if ever the bot will let me back in. Besides is this really that annoying? No more so than saying "essentially" in ever other sentence...

basically....
Apr 6, 2011 6:13AM PDT

Ulf,
Basically I was able to log in when I test this morning, Basically it was working but when the BOL show came on and I tried to log in, basically it said it couldn't connect to the server. Basically it worked when I tested early in the day but couldn't connect at 10:30 PDT when I tried, I think it might have been my machine.

So Basically I think you have to wait 24 or 48 hours now, The few hours isn't really that correct. I would think the total upper case issue would be human controlled and not let a computer do the work.

Basically (making lite of Brian Tong's use of Essentially)

Let me know if you aren't able to get back in after....

the 24 to 48 hours and I'll ask again to see what they can do to get your account back in again.

Thanks!

well it is day four

and i am still banned. I too committed bot suicide in jest over the failed BOL stream monday. I never realized how much I got from the chat room till it was gone. I don't really do anything but read, but even to know when it is live streaming it is useful, because BOL is not even close to being a regularly scheduled program. I work for a company that streams live local sports, and let me say: i just don't know how a big company can have such issues, but that is another tin of kippers altogether.

Anyways any help would be cool, because this is seriously going to wean me from by BOL habit.
