Question

How to get sound using Netflix app on Panasonic TV

Apr 6, 2015 12:45PM PDT

I have my cable box, PS3, and DVD player going through my receiver with HDMI cables, which all work fine. When I try to use the Netflix app built into my TV, there is no sound just a picture. I tried to adjust the audio settings on the TV, but nothing works. Any suggestions?

Answer
It's a common problem.

The Netflix app may need a setting for audio changed. As there are some thousand TVs out there and Netflix writes the app, ask Netflix where the sound setting is.

Netflix app on Panasonic tv

I do not see "SPDIF". Under "Audio", and "Advanced audio" everything is grayed out and doesn't allow me to change anything. If I select "DTV language and SAP settings", it lets me change from Main Audio to Hearing Impaired. Do I need to get a Digital Optical cable to go from my TV to receiver?
Thanks!

As Netflix writes this app

We know this app may not obey the settings in the TV. As to the Optical cable, my brother carries them on service calls and installs them as needed. There are some folk that want ARC to work but I find it failing a lot. But then again folk only bring me problems.

Again, it's a common issue, the retailer and maker's support should be answering here. I can only agree and share the usual answers. I don't have your model to check out directly.
