First try if it works when you boot from a Linux disk or stick (easy to make and free).
Then, if it doesn't work there either, have it repaired under warranty (free also).
If it works in Linux and not in Windows, restore back to factory conditions and it should work again.

No need to install it. Just run from the disk or stick you make witthout installing.

Download from http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php, burn to a DVD (as an image, not as data), boot from it, go into Firefox, play your favorite Youtube video and listen. That's all.

HI,

i installed linuxmint-17.2-cinnamon-64bit wich is the cinnamon version of linux ? dunno anyway.
booted from DVD. first installation didn't work and linux was stcuk. 2nd installation was ok and i went to firefox/youtube. There were no sound at all. from speakers or headphones. nothing worked. i tried to go to settings and search for stuff there... found nothing.
So i restarted computer to windows .. and miracle headphone sound is back (for the moment)

so yeah... thx for the idea !! now i don't know if i have to boot linux each time i have this bug.. i'll keep the DVD around.
