Question

How to get smart tv internet working properly?

Aug 8, 2016 4:11AM PDT

I have the use of Samsung Smart TV, but for a while now when attempting to use the internet to listen to songs on Youtube, the song/video doesn't play and this message is displayed:

Service is not available because of poor network connection.

I'm just wondering what the problem might be and if their is a known solution that you can share with me. I know that Fullscreen on Youtube went down because of the need to update using Firmware Updater. Could this be the cause? If so, could you please give me help with finding, buying and using whatever I need to in order to fix it?

What happens if you don't use Wifi to a far away router, but a wired Ethernet-cable? This might give a far better network connection.

The router isn't far away. It's right next to the TV. I don't even know: for all I know it might already be using ethernet.

Oh and by the way, my first response was incorrectly edited, removing detail which may or may not be helpful. The actual message displayed is this:

Service is not available because of poor network connection.

It's best not to make assumptions. That was you won't make false assumptions about what someone's message was meant to say. Happy

ok it's still not working. Before the message 'Service is not available because of poor network connection.' there is this:

BR with square brackets around it

apparently that's not allowed here so I had to spell it out in words. Very convenient: not.

BR in square brackets is a lay-out code meaning "new line". So it disappears. Sorry for that.

So your TV uses WiFi, not an Ethernet-cable to connect to the router. What happens with the quality of the network connection if you use such a cable?
And how fast is your connection with Internet if you do a speedtest on your laptop or phone, also connected wirelessly?

the 3rd reply here, which for some reason it is not possible to edit is in response to the questions about speed.

The thing is that until while ago the internet on the Smart tv was much better and I never saw this message. Occasionally a video would 'crash' and I'd have to reload the page but there was never a problem with loading the page, as there is now.

The problem started at some point after another problem, which was that youtube would no longer play in full screen. The youtube problem is because the firmware version needs to be updated, so I guess the other problem could also be due to this.

You didn't tell much

Samsung's are notorious for this. Always ask Samsung to check the firmware version and how to reset the TV to factory conditions. Even at 20 feet and under WiFi has failed for me so if there is any hint of trouble I get wired.

Now there are consumers that demand it work on WIFi so for that, I defer to Samsung.

Ok thanks.

'...I defer to Samsung.;'

Idk what that means.

IDK = I don't know.

While I've worked on this issue with many folk, a few DEMAND it get fixed. Unless I'm on a paid call I tell them it's Samsung's to fix. That is me deferring to the maker.

These Smart TVs are quite the tar pit area. I learned long ago never to commit to fixes since the makers have not cleaned up their act.

That doesn't mean I won't try but there are limits to what we can do.

how I solve these kind of issues

I had this exact issue and I found a video on YouTube that solved it for me. Now whenever I need help, I just try a few keywords there and usually the first result is already helpful. For example for your problem I would have tried: Samsung, Smart, TV, " Service is not available because of poor network connection."
