how to get rid of ginmaster on a smartphone?

my wifes phone has ginmaster (according to Malaware\bytes)...
i select "delete" and the popup window says "go to folder /mnt/sdcard/ and select the following file funweather.apk"
clicking 'OK' takes me to a screen where i can select internal storage,

a search says "no files found"

(is it possible it came with the phone ?)

If you boot from a Linux LIVE DVD or USB flashdrive, then the file manager in those systems can view the Android system folders, both internal and external.

I usually just factory reset the phone. Just like Windows, we only lose what we don't backup.

On XDA Forums when it's that bad an infection. Usually the carrier will do this for you if the factory reset doesn't clear it up.

Pull it out, put in computer reader port, or maybe you have an mobile USB reader to use, fine that folder, delete it.

i have a feeling it's on the internal memory of the phone and "untouchable"
