How to get Hulu back on your Boxee

Feb 21, 2009 3:55AM PST

Just a quick note for all the Boxee/Hulu refugees: all is not lost! There is a program called PlayOn, (http://www.themediamall.com/playon/) which runs on your PC, and basically works as a backend server for internet content like Hulu, Netflix, ESPN, etc., essentially funneling that content to any compatible device on your home network. It was designed to work with the Xbox 360 and PS3, but since it uses UPnP, it's also compatible with XBMC, Boxee, Plex, et al. I've been using it with my original Xbox for some months now.

The software is easy to set up, though it does costs $40 and only runs on Windows currently. Admittedly, it is not as elegant as the integrated Boxee client was, but it will allow Apple TV users to continue watching their content in the manner they have become accustomed to.
