How to get Extra Large fonts for visually impaired users?

Jul 29, 2007 1:48AM PDT

I know windows XP had an "handicapped" feature for the visually imparied where you could make the fonts as large as you wanted. I found the way to set larger fonts for my new Vista, but there were only 2 choices and it is still not large enough for my user. IS there a way to make them even larger?

Well...

There may be a third-party program that can do such, but it's not natively supported in Vista...there are only two main sizes. However, there are a few things you can do from within Vista to help them:

1.) Go Control Panel->Appearance and Personalization->Personalization->Display Settings and decrease the display resolution, which in turn makes the buttons, Start Menu, etc larger. If needed you can also make this a per-user setting instead of a global setting.

2.) Go Control Panel->Ease of Access->Ease of Access Center and enable the on-screen magnifier, which is adjustable in regards to how much of the window is taken up as well as how large it magnifies the text.

3.) On webpages you can hold down ctrl and use the mouse scroll wheel to increase/decrease the font size.

Hope this helps,
John

In internet explorer go to tools, internet options, then ACCESSIBILITY, CHECK ignore font size.
