Question

How to get back windows 8 that came up with my lap.

Jan 7, 2015 9:00PM PST

My laptop came with genuine windows 8. Bt i didnt get CD or product key, Only the genuine logo sticker was there.
I inserted a pirated product key of 8pro with WMC. Now my pc is running on an illegl version even tho i paid for the genuine. Is there any way to revert back to my genuine 8. Any1 wid ideas oder dan taking it to service centre?

Note:Both PC refesh and Restart is not wrking(asking me to insert installation drive)

I have also tried extracting the OEM product key with small utility softwares(didin wrk, since it always gives current product key,not the actual product key of genuine 1 dat came up wid lap.

Maybe it has an option to go back to factory conditions by booting from a recovery partiton? Some have, some don't.
Or you can still make the dvd's from that partition? Some can, some can't.

If not, buy the recovery media.

you may still have the recovery partition, if you do, you may be able to reinstall the original with it. without knowing the full model of your computer, there is no way to help you with the partition.

You may also be able to get recovery disks from the manufacturer. One thing, since you are using a stolen key and operating system, you will need to do a format before reinstalling. You really do not know what spyware and other nasties came with the stolen software

Did you study what the user manual says about recovery? Or did you order the recovery media?

Answer
OneKey recovery

Read the manual and if your PC came with it, then you can use it. Why, you went the other route is way off course. Hit the <F2> during bootup and it should show your recovery options using the "hidden partition" for that purpose. Doing so will erase all current install and return as the day 1 display when you got it. If not active OneKey option, then you need to contact Lenevo and order the recovery media(small cost). If you by chance do have OneKey present and then recover, visit the support website and find the instructions in making you're own OEM install recovery media by disc or flash drive.

OEM recovery will use the EUFI presence to find the "OS key" to become legal and active. There is no decal showing this as before like Win 7.

The others posters have already provided the details, I just summoned it up for ya.
