Getting audio
Aug 2, 2011 12:57PM PDT

I found the rather terse instructions for your Phillips. I'm not sure the converter will work with your setup. The Phillips specs mention an "AUX IN 1" connection in the rear. I suspect (since the instructions don't have a diagram) this may be 1 analog (RCA) input or it could be more than 1.
Also, reading the user reviews on Amazon, it appears this converter does not relay Dolby Digital -- only PCM. I couldn't tell from the LG website if this TV would convert to PCM -- I doubt it. Let us know how many and what kind of inout the "AUX in 1" is

Stereo is 2.0
Aug 3, 2011 9:19AM PDT

Stereo with a center bass is 2.1.

You have 5 speakers and a bass so that's 5.1.

OTA is Over The Air.

Some folk are upset when they don't get 5.1 in this setup. The reasons are well known.

The bottom line is...
Aug 3, 2011 12:11AM PDT

...the analog input in back of your Phillips will only accept a 2.0 signal, so the converters won't help in this regard. A simple red/white (L/R) to ~3.5mm "Y" connector should do the trick running audio out from your LG to the Phillips. Check a local electronics supplier (similar to a 'Radio Shack', here in the U.S.) for this connector.

Connecting Audio
Aug 2, 2011 3:28PM PDT

hey.. well the problem, might be because your home theatre system might not digital optical port. That is the reason, you might have the digital out from your TV but you could not connect to the Commercial home theatre system. I just learnt, that there are 2 audio systems, Commercial & professional. However, the professional audio systems, like BOSE, Harman Kardonn, JBL has those digital optical audio port in their systems, through which they can be connected to each other. Please check if the TV has digital optical out and your HTS should have digital Optical in. Or you can still connect your audio out port to audio in port in your HTS. See if this helps
