Question

How to forward a text message to email from Samsung Galaxy S

Jul 2, 2018 5:50AM PDT

Senior newbie here. How do I forward text messages and photos from my Samsung Galaxy S4 to my computer email account? My phone is acting up and I don't want to lose those files. Thank in advance.

I can't tell you about SMS-messages, but I transfer photo's from my phone to my computer by connecting it with a USB-cable and copying them with File Explorer from the DCIM folder to whereever I want them in my PC (like the My Pictures folder). Much faster and easier than mailing them.

Other people make backups to the cloud. Don't you?

I understand the USB-cable part but am lost with the File Explorer from DCIM folder. I'll try the USB cable....maybe it will walk me though the transfer.

File Explorer is the program that was called Windows Explorer in earlier versions of Windows. Surely you know how to use that.
And DCIM is a folder on the Android phone. That phone gets a drive letter in Windows when you connect the phone to your PC.

So all you've got to do is to copy files from a folder on drive e: (or whatever it becomes) to a folder on your c:-drive (or d:-drive, or whatever drive-letter you want to use). If that's too difficult, ask some local help (the proverbial computer savvy nephew or neighbour).
