Question

How to format my USB disk?

Apr 18, 2017 7:58AM PDT

So, I used this USB without problems until today. Today I had to reinstall Windows, so I used this USB for it. I made bootable drive and reinstalled Windows. But than I wanted to clean everything from that drive and I used diskpart for that cleaning. After that i can not access to that drive. When I click on it I get this message: You need to format the disk in drive G: before you can use it. I clik Format Disk. Than in new window only capacity is Unknown capacity is able be chosen. File System: NTFS, FAT, ExFat (Here I don't know what I need to choose, but I leave on FAT). Everything else I can't change. When I click on start I get the message: Windows was unable to complete the format.

Did I ruin this drive completely, or can I repair it somehow?

Insert the usb stick.
Open disk management.
Delete all the partitions on the stick.
Create one partition maximum size.
Format the partition....fat32/ntfs.

Many USB sticks have to be formatted another way. I like the old HP USB FORMATTER (found with google) but some other methods are out there.

@Nemanjal87

Manufacturer ? Size ?
Download Manufacturer's Format Program and/or Utility From Manufacturer's Site.
Run/Launch Program.
For USB DISK SIZE > 2G, Select FAT32 or NTFS, Also.

Good Luck.
