All I needed to do was remove the old partitions, create the new ones (that's the step that determines the file system) and then format that partition.
It's incorrect to say we format as NTFS when we are talking hard drives. Maybe we can write that on USB sticks and floppies, but for hard disks the file system is set when we partition.

My O/S is Windows 7. I have A Clickfree C2 3.0 USB drive and want to use it strictly as NTFS drive and not have to deal with CF backup program that automatically starts. As suggested on this forum I've disabled the CF DVD/CD driver but found that this is not a permanent fix because when the CF drive is reconnected to my computer the driver has to be enabled in order for the CF drive to be recognized. Will formatting the CF CDFS partition to a NTFS partition using Win 7 disc manangement solve the problem ? If not, are there other options?
