You should be able to set that anyway you want.
I have mine set to disc first and disk second.
That way I can just pop in a disc and it boots from that.
If there is no disc in the unit it just falls through and boots from the disk.
Since this all seems to have started with the ram movement grab a copy of memtest86 and let it run for a few hours....no errors allowed.
You don't want faulty ram...think dma... corrupting files on the disk, that just leads into a big mess.
There’s a couple of issues that happened leading up to this current one , I’ll leave it all here so any clues can be found about what’s going on :
My issue is that I got new ram - 16 gb instead of my original 8- I opened my pc digital storm Bolt first edition from 2013 like I normally do and took out my old ram - before even attempting to place my new ram I realize that the new ram is larger and won’t fit underneath my heat sink which happens to be protruding from the backside of the tower towards my ram slots- bad design decision from digital storm - this is a mini-itx form factor but I dont think this was a good idea to make it this way.
So salt aside I decide to put my old ram back in as it performs fine I just wanted more . So I turn on my pc and everything powers on fine - cpu fans and heatsink fan harddrive can be heard power light and even motherboard light is on and green ... but no display appears on my screen .
Now I do EVERYTHING to try and fix this and what does fix it is reseating my ram and cmos battery had to do it like 2 times though. After this I finally get a signal but its just my bios screen hanging there and it says something like press f1 to configure bios- so I do and it just brings me to bios utility page where I confirm default settings and leave the page - the pc try to boot into windows as I see the windows 10 logo but Im met with a Blue screen of Death and it says inaccessible boot device error as a phrase to give to a support person.
What going on here . Anything I try like system restore to earlier dates doesntwork - system repair doesnt work either and sfc /scannow even says Windows resource protection cannot perform the requested operation . All the system help stuff just gives separate generic answers. Did I destroy my cmos battery when I reset it or something I wore an anti static wrist band while reseating ... any help is greatly appreciated as I just ordered ram a new harddrive and other parts for this pc .
I5-3570k at 3.4 ghz
2 sticks of 4 - 8gb ddr3 ram data
Gtx 1060 6gb
1 tb seagate Hdd
UPDATE : booted into safe mode and I’m at my desktop im trying sfc and check disk in admin mode now ... is my HDD supposed to be first in the boot order ? After the cmos reseat the boot order was CD-ROM drive boot first , whenever I tried to change the order it seems not to stick so to speak ..
