Question

How to fix backlit keyboard on Macbook Pro

Jun 5, 2012 11:07AM PDT

A little while back I spilled some of an "adult beverage" on my macs keyboard. Not a lot at all i'd say 2 tbsp maybe? But regardless I noticed the only mechanical defect afterwards is that my backlit keyboard is dimmed in some areas and doesnt light up bright at all in some areas. In other areas it lights up bright like always. Can anyone assist in what i should do? The day after I took precautions and laid it in rice and let it sit off in front of a fan and wrapped in a towel for about 2-4 days total before using again. Any help would be gladly appreciated.
Regards

Nothing you can do

Nothing you can do short of replacing the top case. Since there's liquid damage that voids your warranty, and so you need to ask yourself if this is worth $300-$400 to fix. I'm going to go out on a limb and say no, but it's your call.

Sadly I'm in a similar boat, however I've never justified paying to fix it. I'm just used to it by this point.
