How to fix a problem user account?

Mar 8, 2004 3:01AM PST

Windows XP pro SP1 + most of the critical and recommended updates/patches.

3 users -- 1 Administrator, 1 account with Administrator Priviledge, 1 account with Limited user level.

Problem:

User with Administrator Priviledge and User with Limited level, have somekind of trouble/problem.

I would like to delete both of them. I can delete the Limited account, but I can not delete the user with Administrator priviledge. How can I delete administrator level user account (without creating other account first)?

Also, when I create a new user account, the problem still exist, How do I fix this?

Note: System Restore not available.

Thank You

You can try copying the 'profile' of the source account.

What problems do you have ? 'somekind' does not tell anything.

You are not able to delete the account with admin priviledges because you must have at least one such account.

Thank you, the problem is with IE..
Mar 8, 2004 1:02PM PST

and I already posted with no clue on how to fix it...

here it is again,

In IE6, with Administrator account, I have no problem.

The problem only exist on the User with Administrator priviledge and Limited user account... and only on 'Certain' website... I have to put a slash (/) on the end of the address, to be able to browse the site.
Meanwhile I also can not browse to 'Some' of the link on that website (nothing happen if I click on it)-- tried a suggestion on re-registering .dll's, no success.

--- already tried to create a new user, the problem still exist ---

Since I have no problem with Administrator account, I thought that is NOT IE, Windows XP or website error.. just the account 'profile' problem, that's why I would like to try to copy a profile from other PC if possible (I have several other pc that I can make a copy from).

Thank's again

''404 Error. Requested Information / Is Unavailable''

The article [Q296275] explains that when attempting to visit a Web site, IE displays a page with the following error message that occurs when you add a forward slash to the end of a Web address that is specified as an exception in the proxy server settings, and suggest troubleshooting steps to repair it:

Error - 404 Requested Information / is unavailable.
Failed to connect to server name of the Web server.
reason: hostname unknown.

Thank you for the information, but ...
Mar 8, 2004 11:43PM PST

it didn't apply to my problem.. as I didn't get any error message and not because 'adding' a forward slash, but instead I have to put a forward slash in order to be able to go to webaddress link.

As I already explain, it only happened to 'other' than Administrator (the root/hidden)account and also only on certain website. And creating a new account didn't help, that is why I like to try to copy the user profile from other PC.. (have already done trying but failed)

So, I guest I have to prepare for reformat/reinstall the hole thing.

Thank you and I appreciated your information Bill..

Cheers...

Okay. I wouldn't simply write it off because there is ''no error message''.

1. Failing that, clear the "History Cache."

2. Novice users mistype URLs or forget whether a forward slash or backward slash is needed. Microsoft included a usability feature called AutoCorrect to alleviate the problem for common convention (e.g., "htpp;//") and IE usually automatically resolves the mistake, [Q217148].

3. It may be to your advantage to repair IE to correct certain problems or else attempt fixing items described in the articles, "How to Search the Internet from the Address Bar in Internet Explorer (Q221754)", [Automating Web Tasks], and [Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Resource Guide].

I see some light in your last message,.. I just found out that..
Mar 9, 2004 1:48AM PST

my friend installing the windows xp IIS feature then uninstall it ...

After reading your post, it say something about IIS and redirect and forward slash thing... + the Router NAT etc.

I would like to try to clean-up the IIS remnant, before going to reformat/reinstallation... can you guide me to what should I look for?

Thank you again Bill

Sorry. Never been there nor done that. Perhaps a new message appropriately titled will get Robert's or David's attention.
