How to fix a Boot Up Error 0xc0000034 on Toshiba Satellite

How to fix a Boot Up Error 0xc0000034 on my Toshiba Satellite A505-S6005

Hey guys,

So my laptop asked to do an update and while doing so I was online and my internet froze to a point of no return.
I completely forgot about the update and decided to turn off my laptop.
The next day I turned it on and found a message saying that "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause."

The problem is that I don't have the installation disk anymore. I've had this computer since 2010.
Any idea what I can possibly do to fix it?

Thanks

Answer
No install disc required. But you need this disk.

http://www.pallareviews.com/3258/windows-boot-error-code-0xc0000034/ notes the steps and it's NO SECRET you can download the needed disc images. In case you didn't know, read http://www.howtogeek.com/186775/how-to-download-windows-7-8-and-8.1-installation-media-legally/

If the OS is really banged up, say by those recent malware rootkits, you may want to boot some Linux to get your files out while you wait for restore media to arrive.

PS. Why no backup or missing media? Seems to be something Windows owners can't do without. Something like driving without seatbelts.

Answer
You can make a REPAIR drive on any Windows 7 PC

To make a repair disc, just find another computer with Windows 7 and either 32 or 64 bit version matching yours. Then on that PC go to Start -> Control Panel -> Backup and Restore -> Create a system repair disc. Insert a blank CD-R and in about 3 minutes time you'll have a disc you can boot from on your damaged PC. That could be all you'll need if you're lucky. It just depends on how badly your system is corrupted from that powering off.

When you've gotten your system back like you want it, I urge you to get yourself an external hard drive and a good 3rd party backup program. You can set it up to do everything automagically at the time and frequency of your choice. 1 TB external hard drives are about $50 these days and a really good FREE backup program is the Easeus Todo Backup Free. That can save you a lot of time and frustration the next time something like this happens. Sooner or later it happens to all computers for one reason or another.

Good luck.
