How To Find Photos On DVD+RW That Were Erased

by janenolan / May 7, 2010 8:08 AM PDT

I accidentally erased a DVD+RW that had some photos that I would like to save. Is there anyway to retrieve them? Maybe a specific program that will do the trick. Thank you.

Erased data on optical media is not like a hard drive. Once the disk/data is erased, it's gone.

Not neccessarily

If the RW disk has been "Quick Erased", there is still a chance to recover the data.

But if you have done a "Full Erase", well then it's, Sorry, Goodbye.

You may be able to recover them

There is a tool on Linux live CDs called testdisk. There is a possibility of recovering lost information. It works with hard drives.
Unless using a good wiping program and multiple times, data is usually not erased.
