I tried to install Windows 7 on a HP dv6510us and found no drivers available for this machine. HP and other places did not find the driver so it was rolled back to XP per this guide -> http://www.fastfs.com/help_pages/hp%20downgrade.htm
My friend who was trying this spent about a month trying to find all the Windows 7 drivers (failed) and then didn't want to live with Vista so tried to go to XP and failed. Finally they begged to have me do the deed. I used that link to get XP working as good as could be expected.
I'd save your Windows 7 license for another machine.

Brand: HP Pavilion dv6500 (about 4 years old)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (about 1 year old)
Current Status: When I pointed the mouse cursor to the speaker icon, it showed "No Audio Output Device is installed." So, I opened Sound in Control Panel, and it displayed "No Audio Devices are installed" under Playback and Recording tab. Then, I went to Devices Manager to find my system speaker, and it showed "No drivers are installed for this device." Finally, I put my hope on the HP drivers website, and I found my speaker driver, Conexant High-Definition Audio Driver, available to download. However, once i run the driver, it showed "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the device for this driver." Please help, Thank you.
