How to erase hard drive on old computer?

I'm getting rid of my old computer.
How do I delete everything?
Also, any idea what I should do with it?

Bob has the best on that, tried Killdisk and didn't work but

DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke) does. Spent 3 days trying to back up to Windows Willenium with FAT32 but NTFS will not let it work. I even installed WINXP with FAT32 - then using WINME recovery disk and CD and that didn't work either. But it is a quick wipe created for the Dept. of Defense. Darrell L.
