How to enlarge fonts while on the internet

Apr 8, 2004 5:09AM PDT

Hi, I am teaching my 90 year young father -in-law how to get on and use the internet. The words are so small, he can't see them. Is there a way I can enlarge the words on the pages on the internet. Thank you, farnand1

Two methods you can try.

1. In IE, the View, Text Size ...
2. In the Control Panel, add Accessability items such as the Magnifier.

Do you know how to make the larger font size stick. My wife keeps having it shrink back to Medium size when browsing or opening IE. This is in XP Prof.

Here's a quick way to enlarge type in web pages.

Hold down the control key and move the mouse 'scroll' wheel. One direction makes the type smaller, the other makes it larger.

If your mouse has a wheel,
hold down CTRL and spin the wheel
just small spin changes size.
I am 73 yrs of age and use this
method often.

The best solution: ...

a bigger monitor and/or a lower resolution. Would work nice with CRT's (second hands are VERY cheap). Wouldn't work pleasantly with LCD's.
