Resolved Question

how to enable LAN between TV and computer?

Jan 14, 2015 8:33PM PST

Another question, please, hoping someone from Samsung is around.

I would like to attach my Samsung TV UE50HU6900S to my LAN, so as to be able to transfer photos video, and similar from my Mac to the TV screen. I read that this is possible. I have plugged in an Ethernet CAT6 cable between the TV and my ISP's modem/router. But how do I go about getting the media from the Mac to the screen? What source should I use, for example?

On my Mac, (Mac Mini Server 2.3 GHz Intel 4 core i7/16Gb RAM/OS 10.9.5) in system Preferences/Network/Advanced/ under the WINS tab I see a PC4 next to the NetBIOS Name, and in the Finder window under Computer, in the left panel under Shared, is something called pc4, which must be the TV as it wasn't there before. There must be some sort of configuration required as if I click on "Connect as " I get a notice that the connection failed.

What do I need to do to configure the TV and/or Mac to enable transferring from the Mac to the TV?

Thanks for any insight and suggestions.
