How to do absolute ad relative cell referece on Excel??

Oct 22, 2004 8:39AM PDT

I have a project due at midnight tonight and it's askig me to review the differece betwee absolute and relative cell referennces adn to use both in my formulas so that if the % for the bonus changes, the bonus amounts chage automatically.

Can anyone tell me how to do this??? I will appreciate it a lot!

If you put a formula in B1 that reference A1, should you cut and paste the formula, it will always reference the cell to the immediate left
BUT
if type your formula to reference $A$1 (still A1 ) and paste it anywhere, it will STILL reference A1.

The $ sign is used to fix (or make absolute) references.

BTW, you can have a semi-fixed by putting the $ sign in front of the letter portion for rowlocking, or put it in front the number for column locking.
Hope this helps...

You might learn still more if you study your course material and learn to use the Help of Excel.
