Maybe it's the circles I run in but all the techs I know nod and say "I can do that" when I asked if they could remove the mic.

I'm looking for some sort of method to try to disable the microphone and all audio input on my Panasonic SDR-S50 camcorder. For legal reasons, I need to specifically be not recording any sound at all while the camera is in operation, so I can't just mute the sound later in video-editing software.
I already looked in the manual and settings to see if there's a way to turn off all the audio recording, but I don't think it's possible. I also attempted to covering the microphone holes with several layers of electrical tape, but it didn't muffle things nearly enough, and most of the audio is still very hearable.
Is there a way to physically open up the camcorder and disconnect / break something on the inside so the microphones never work again? I'd be perfectly OK with that solution if it came to that.
Just was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I don't want to resort to spending a lot of money on a camcorder with a mic-in jack and then plug in a dead microphone into it, or something silly like that. Is there an easier way?
