How to delete corrupted user account that's always logged on

Jul 7, 2007 7:21AM PDT

Hi there,

I have found out that I have a corrupted user account. I have created a new account and am trying to now delete corrupted account but I can't as it always stays logged on. When I start the computer it goes straight to the corrupted account and will only let me switch users.

Any help is appreciated.

I have Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 3100c.

should be able to log in with new account and delete the other after

Click on Start, Control Panel, and select user accounts.
Click on Change the Way Users Log On or Off.
Click on the Box "Use the Welcome Screen" so that there is a check mark.

Thanks, but....

Sorry,I didn't make it clear.

I have put checkmark for having the 'welcome screen' but it still goes directly to the corrupted user account and not via the welcome screen.

when the computer logs on go to:

start>run> control userpasswords2 and check the box that says Users must require a pasword to logon, and then restart. you should then be prompted for the welcome screen with all the user accounts on it

hope this helps
