How to Delete contents of Sched.Tasks Log??

Jul 26, 2004 3:53PM PDT

After much futzing around, I have finlly got my Shed Tasks working properly again. Now I have this huge log of no longer relevant error notes. I need to clear the contents for 1) ease of viewing & 2) so I can enable "notify me of missed tasks" without it doing so because of former missed tasks. Have tried select all & delete. Asks if want to save changes. Say yes, save, says can't. Say no get same log back. Click cancel get same log back.
Can I use Explorer to go to ?? file and either just delete the whole log folder( assuming on reboot,or Scandisk manually, the folder will be replaced but empty)? Or delete just the contents successfully from there? Thanks in Advance! Confused

I should start with moving all the contents out of the folder (or delete it to the Recycle Bin) and see what happens. If OK, then it's OK; if not, easy to restore it and try another solution.

If you don't know what you're doing, best is to be able to undo it!

My assumption is that you cannot perform the function wanted since Task Scheduler may be active (in memory). First disable, and then try your procedure.

Finally figured it out and here's what worked for me (Win98SE) :
Go to scheduled tasks. On advanced tab click "Stop Using Sched.Tasks".Close sched. tasks.
Go: start>programs>Explorer>"Windows" folder. Open. Scan down about 2/3 way to bottom. Find: "Schedlog.Txt" text file. Either re-name to: Schedlog Old.txt or just delete the whole thing. Back out the way you came.
Now go: Start>Programs>Accessories>system tools>scheduled tasks>advanced tab. Click Start Using Sched Tasks. Click "view log". You should have a blank file except 1 entry showing :Scheduled tasks started( with current date & time). At this point let your left hand shake hands with your right and go have a drink or whatever knowing it's a job well done! Happy
