how to delete a movie file that won't go away!!!

i have a movie file in My Documents, and when i click it and try to delete it, a window comes up that says that it can't be deleted because its being used by another program. THEN, my computer begins running slow and i have to restart my pc. I tried the same procedure in Safe Mode, but the same thing happened. Any advice as to how i can delete this file???

You could try MoveOnBoot

In reply to: how to delete a movie file that won't go away!!!

MoveOnBoot allows you to copy, move or delete files on the next system boot. This comes in very handy, if you need to replace or delete files which are locked by other applications, loaded into memory or cannot be changed until next system boot. You could manually enter a line to the wininit files, but using MoveOnBoot is much simpler, since the program can be integrated into shell - it creates the "Copy/Move/Delete on boot" context menu item.

Movie file cannot be deleted...

In reply to: how to delete a movie file that won't go away!!!

..file being used by another program ? Perhaps so. Which viewer are you using ? Windows Media, Real Player....some or most of these players have a facility to save items i.e. movie, sound tracks, etc. to their library. Perhaps a 'link' is used to do this, I don't know; but if it is, perhaps you can try removing the item from the library, so that it is not being "used"......

Movie file cannot be deleted...

In reply to: Movie file cannot be deleted...

Possibly u must have downloaded the movie from P2P and normally the movie is kept on my shared folder but unknowingly u must have kept your HDD on sharing basis and it can be used by so many to upload from ur comp. During uploading by any one u will not be able to delete & will get the msg. as described. If you have any P2P site u must shut it down and delete the movie from My Documents Folder.
