How to convert video between some popular video formats?

Hey Guys!
I have some of my favorite songs and videos in my PC(Mac/Snow Leopard) that I want to play on my iPod and iPhone. I have tried many times by different methods but failed. Do you people have any idea that can help me out? Your suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Are you running iTunes?

Simple import will change the format to the one you need.

Unless these videos and such are pirated, then the DRM will get in the way.
