How to convert RS232 to ethernet to control beta deck?

by Desp / July 22, 2005 7:11 AM PDT

I'd like to use my laptop as a betacam remote, there is software to control it through the serial port on a computer, but since no new laptops now days have a serial port, I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on how to make a virtual com port through the ethernet, and I can just make a RJ45 to DB9 adaptor. Anyone?

MOXA makes them but at 300 a pop I would not do that but use BELKIN's USB to RS232 adapters.

Sweet, thanks, 15 dollars not bad, I'll have to try one of those out.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
