Question

How to connect Sony DAVDZ340 home theater system to a PS3

Nov 14, 2012 3:18AM PST

Hey everyone,

I have just bought a Sony DAVDZ340 home theater system.
I connected the system with HDMI to my Samsung television. Now I want to connect the home theater system to my PS3, so I can play with surround sound.

The sony DAVDZ340 has 1 HDMI out (just 1 HDMI port).

I have 2 HDMI ports on my TV. I tried to connect PS3 and home theater system to my TV, but I only recieved sound trough my television.

Can someone give me advice?

Answer
You don't connect the Sony HT to the PS3

It's the other way around. Stuff goes TO the home theater system and then 1 cable goes out to the TV. But sounds like for that one you only send the sound from your PS3 to the Sony using an optical cable and still have to connect an hdmi cable from the PS3 to the TV. That's how I hooked up my PS3 to my receiver. THen you have to go into the PS3 settings and change the audio to optical cable.
