how to connect external hard drive to PS3???

hi ! i need help how to install external HDD to my ps3!!! i bought a WESTERN digital 750GB. i did format the hard drive. on my external hard dive i created MUSIC, VIDEO AND PICTURE folder ON THE MUSIC FOLDER I DUMP MY ALL MP3 MUSIC... WHEN I PLUGGED MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE TO MY ps3 I CANNOT SEE MY external HHD... aNY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE????

hey does reformatting it effect it for other uses not related to ps3
like my word docs and pictures and will it erase the items already on
the hard drive

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
