How to close a wireless network

Jun 22, 2007 11:56AM PDT

I have an ibook and a powerbook on a wireless network at home using the Apple Airport Basestation and the Apple Extreme. It wasn't originally set up as a closed network which I'd like to do now since we think that others in our neighborhood may be using it and slowing down our connection.I'm not the least bit technical and have no idea how to do this. Can anyone give me simple instructions or is this something I can help with from Apple Care or the Genius Bar? Thanks.

After you have read Bob's article,

and have an idea why you are doing what you are going to do, launch the Airport Setup Utility, it's in the Utilities folder inside the applications folder.

This will walk you through creating a closed network with the necessary security.

Let us know how you got on
