Re: Word changing default margins

Peporro,

Read about templates in http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide/templates.htm
The default template (that is used if you don't specify another one when creating the document) is called normal.dot

The registry is definitely the wrong place to look for this setting.

Hope this helps.

if all you want to do is change your default margins

If all you want to do is change your default margins you really do not need to know where or which Normal.dot you are using. It is only a couple clicks to change your Normal.dot. Here's how:

1) Open up a blank doc in Word
2) select the command File>Page Setup
3) On that page change your margins to what you want
4) Click the [Default] button.

You will be asked:
"Do you want to change the default settings for the page setup?"
Click [Yes]
That's all. You do not have to save the blank document you are currently editing, you can just toss it. All new documents you create will automatically open with your new margin settings.
