How to capture video from Hi8 Camcorder?!?!

Dec 22, 2005 8:24AM PST

I'm trying to transfer a bunch of little league baseball games. They were recorded on a Sony CCD-TR86 Hi8. As far as connections go, it only has the black and yellow A/V cables.

What is the simplest and/or cheapest way to capture these videos? I want to save them digitally on a hard drive to be edited later.

My computer does not have a serparate video card, just the built in Intel.

Do I need a new video card?
Maybe an adapter to take teh A/V cables to firewire?

Thanks

You need a video capture card, or a USB capture device, cost $30~70. There are lots and lots of them out there.
Dazzel has a nice USB capture device $60 or so.
Video out from your camera to the capture device.
and video software, good info on the link below. John
