Question

How to automatically rename a jpg using content in xml file?

Sep 9, 2011 6:39AM PDT

I have a directory with several hundred jpeg files where the file names are very generic (date-time.jpg). For each jpeg there is a similarly named xml file that contains information about the jpeg. Is there a way to use the contents of the xml file to rename the corresponding jpeg to be more descriptive (from 'date-time.jpg' to 'date-time-location-owner.jpg') without having to do it manually for each jpeg file? Thank you for any suggestions.

And why not one of the other script languages or even Visual Studio or a File Renamer App?

Something is untold here.

What do you mean with "testing"?

And do you think the OP still needs your help after nearly a year? Do you think he even reads your post?

By the way, I asked the forum administrator to remove your email address. That only attracks spam. You can enable the "mail me via the forum" in your profile so the OP can reach you and ask you your email address to send the information to. Much safer.
