How to add SPDIF/ coax/ digital audio output to laptop?

Jun 10, 2009 6:07AM PDT

I'm looking for a way to add a SPDIF/ coax/ digital audio output to my laptop (hp dv4).

I know hp has the 'HP Notebook Quickdock' which adds a whole bunch of other ports including an SPDIF port to the laptop, but thats the only port I need and none of the other extra ones so I;m hoping theres a way to add just an SPDIF/ coax/ digital audio port to the laptop..

I have these available ports: HDMI, ExpressCard Slot, eSATA/ USB port, Expansion port, and USB ports.. Thankss

This thing is tinnnnnnyy and the sound is unbelievable! It sounds just as good as the sound from my desktop and my tv which are also connected to my Bose home theater. BTW amazon/ UPS shipping is ridiculously fast. Thanks for the recommendation man Happy

Lucky!

But we made some of our own luck here. I've always liked 2 names in sound cards for more years than I'll admit. Here they are:

Creative Labs
Turtle Beach

In alphabetical order to show no preference. I know of many no-name USB cards but when I saw Turtle Beach it looked like taking a risk on.

Glad you are having great luck with that. As always I worry about drivers as the years pass so let's hope.
