Question

How to add more ports to home modem

Apr 2, 2016 10:23AM PDT

I am using a Time Warner Cable Arris TG1672G 4 port wireless modem. All ports on the Arris are in use and I need more to connect other devices specifically security cameras and smart home devices. I do not want to connect them wireless because there is a delay on getting my front door camera to open when the one inside is connected by CAT5. What do I need to buy to give me at least 7 or 8 ports and how do I set it up. I know I would have to bridge the Arris but need assistance. I am somewhat computer savy however I have never tackled this task.

Answer
Folk use Switched Hubs to add ports.

It's done all the time. No bridging required so why do that and who wrote that?
