There is no definitive cure for this one. While the OS will work just fine with a proper install of motherboard drivers and will autorun, adding software such as DirectCD, InCD, Musicmatch and what else can eventually cause oddities. And no one has a clear road back.
Here's what I would try. Go get TWEAKUI and change the AUTORUN settings in that tool. Next I would boot SAFE MODE and remove all CDROMs found in the DEVICE MANAGER. On reboot, the drives are redetected and the default autorun is applied.
For some reason autorun has been deactivated when I insert a CD in the drive. Music CD's do start under Musicmatch but other CD's do not under anything even when autorun is on the CD. I end up starting the CD manually.
Autorun used to work up to about 6 months ago. How do I reactivate autorun in Windows ME? I have a HP Pavilian Desktop. Thanks, pwcmec
